The restructured board of directors identified by the bylaws adopted in 2012 consists of the follow governance and event committees. Below are the Committee Description.

ALUMNI/MENTORING COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION

Each Scholar will have an Board member contact to assist her or him in the transition to college.

DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION

All Board members are expected to assist in asking for donations to fund our scholarships.

BANQUET COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION

The Banquet Committee schedules and coordinates the activities necessary to insure a successful Scholarship Awards Banquet.  This event is held in early May.

FINANCE COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION

The Finance Committee is responsible for regularly reporting the Fund’s investments to the Board. In carrying out its responsibilities, the Finance Committee and its agents will act in accordance with the Policies and all applicable laws and regulations. The primary responsibilities of the Finance Committee are:

  • Prepare and maintain the investment policy statement.
  • Prudently diversify the portfolio’s assets to meet an agreed upon risk/return profile.
  • Control and account for all investment, record keeping and administrative expenses associated with the portfolio.
  • Prudently monitor and supervise all service vendors and investment options.
  • Avoid prohibited transactions and conflicts of interest.
  • Report portfolio and account performance to Board at monthly Board Meetings and report and propose rebalancing on semi-annual basis.

MEDIA/PR COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION

Write Press Releases and conduct other public relations activities

SELECTION COMMITTEE DESCRIPTION

Selection Committee Members shall prepare and coordinate the applications process, recruit Final Readers, and notify winners
